“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr. (Thanks, Ann)

Melodramatic low standards

Ruby: The Olympics isn't fun.
Me: What?! Why not?
Ruby: You wouldn't understand. (sigh) It's not the kind of TV for a girl like me.
(weighted pause) I wish Daddy wouldn't watch it.
(sigh) To me, it's like the worst movie ever.
Ski racing, which is the most boring. I like Cartoon Network more. I'm feeling bored. (while she drags her fingers up and down the piano)

Hmmm. And her favorite foods are hot dogs and mac/cheese. Not so wonderful. But I'm not giving up, because now she's playing with an abicus.

Ruby: there's nothing fun for me to do. I'm bored.
Me: are you ready for bed?
