“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr. (Thanks, Ann)

surprising God

Tonight Ruby was s-l-o-w to obey and I said "Ruby, when I have to ask you 2 times or 3 times, what is that"
"that's when I disobey"
"and what should you do instead?"
"obey"
"why should you obey?"
"because I believe in God" (yes!!)
"why else?"
"because you love me" (yes!!)
"and what does God think when you obey?"
"He is surprised" (what?!? Ha!)
"I think He is glad, actually" (Whew. I so love them.)

(If I could insert a photo, it would be Ruby standing in the doorway to my room, standing with her little legs tucked into one corner and her arms spread so she leaned rather sideways with her head thoughtfully inclined.)
