“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr. (Thanks, Ann)

I'll give you a $1000

"Ruby, I'll give you a thousand dollars if you sleep in your own bed all night," says Daddy.
And she bursts into tears. "Mommmeeeee!" she wails into my leg (I'm sitting on said pink flowery bed).

Why are you crying about a thousand dollars Ruby?
"Because that was ugly." (testing out new vocab word there)
What?!
"Because I only have a few cents in my bank."
So wouldn't you like a thousand dollars in there? What's ugly about that?
"Because I just only want to cuddle you, Mommy."

Yes, so the co-sleeping saga continues. Daddy bribes, Mommy cuddles all night, complains all day. Rather lame inconsistency goin' on there for Mommy.

The stealthy girl slides in, not ruffling a cover. I don't wake up. Nobody knows until a little shriek lets loose in the early hours "I'm cold!" Well, of course, teetering there on the edge of bed - sneaky little mouse. But when those soft little arms curl up around your neck and she plants a tiny kiss on your cheek? Then instead of hauling her off to her own, you remember the days when her whole little body fit between my armpit and my not-deflated belly.

She won't do this forever, you know. Eventually my shoulders will un-knot and my arms will regain circulation. Who even cares about that anyway.
