Did you hear those last lines of the quote from the John McCain video? When you've lived in a box, you will fight so that no one else will have to. Makes me cry.
Because I've lived in a box. I've lived in the darkness of my own sin and others - and I've seen a great light!!!! I understand this analogy. I was certainly never tortured in Hanoi. But I've seen the darkness, the lure of sin and death and I've chosen to walk in the light instead. And now, isn't that right? Isn't it right that the PURPOSE of life is to give glory to the Light - to the Maker of light!?! Yes! And the light is sweet and brilliant because I remember.
I love that this RNC is framed within the focused memory of where John McCain has been. A hero is something you choose to be. Faithful is something you choose to be. And his practice in these areas gives me confidence.
Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls."
“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr. (Thanks, Ann)
