“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr. (Thanks, Ann)

frustration and irritation; specks and logs

It is very irritating to me that, when I am feeling most frustrated and overwhelmed in my day - it is nearly always a direct result of my own, personal sin. Argh.

Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. Luke 6:42

The pictured beautiful eye, obviously, is not one of the ones I'm talking about, although she surely has SEEN her mother's sin with this perfectly formed eye and just patiently forgives it.
